Sponsored Walk ... 11 September 2010

‘Ride and Stride’ a sponsored walk starting at 9.30 a.m. from St. John the Baptist Oxenton to the Ascension Southam via St. Martin De Tours Woolstone and St. Michael’s Bishops Cleeve takes place on Saturday 11th September.  The walk can be joined at any church along the route and you can walk as far as you wish.  Lifts can be arranged to/from Oxenton/Southam if required.  Half the amount raised will go directly to your own churches and you can nominate a church to receive the sponsorship money you raise.  ‘Ride and Stride’ is run by Gloucestershire Historic Churches Trust and is a great way to support our churches across the county.  To get your sponsorship form and for more information please contact the local organiser Sarah Whitehead – 674489 or email jwhitehead46@beinternet.com   For more information about the Trust’s work have a look at the website www.ghct.org.uk

Coffee Morning ... 11 September 2010

The Methodist Church monthly Coffee Morning is on Saturday 11th September from 10.00 a.m. -11.30 a.m. everyone welcome. There will be stalls of cakes, books, bric-a brac and raffle. Come and enjoy a friendly morning.

‘Parent & Child Hobby Club’ ... 15 September 2010

Starting on Wednesday 15th September a ‘Parent & Child Hobby Club’ has been organised by Extended Services and is starting at Cleeve School for families who live in the local area. A child aged 10 or above, along with their parent or adult guardian (grandparent, uncle, aunt, etc), can attend free of charge and even the materials are free too. Parents can work along side their children on some exciting projects involving a wide range of workshop tools and machinery to make several products out of woods, metals and plastics, which will then be taken home. This is a great opportunity for families to have some fun while spending some quality time together. The club will be on Wednesdays, 5:30 – 6:30pm, in Classroom DT 4 and will run initially for 6 weeks. The club is run by a fully qualified, CRB checked, Cleeve School Teacher. Play Reading ... 17 September 2010

Bishops Cleeve players have arranged a play reading in the large meeting room of the Parish Offices on Friday 17th September when they will be going through some pantomime scripts.  This is an open evening and the Club is looking to recruit new members, so why not drop in – 8.00 p.m. start, £2.00 entrance - refreshments included.

A New ‘Dance Club’ ... 18 September 2010

Organised in the school gym at Cleeve School for all ages starting on Saturday 18th September from 10.30 – 11.30 a.m.  Run by local dance teacher Cheri Steel it costs £3.00 each or £5.00 a pair.  For further information or book a place please contact Mark Durn – details as above.

The "Big Squeeze" ... 16 October 2010

On Saturday the 16th October, Transistion Cleeve would like your unwanted or windfall apples. Just ring them up and they will collect them. Contact number is 01242 244785.

On Sunday 17th October at the Tithe Barn they will be "scratting and juicing" so bring along your windfalls and they will juice them. 
While your there taste some of last years pressing.

Jazz at the Tithe Barn ... 22 October 2010

Jazz at the Barn Make a date in your diary - Friday October 22nd when we have the pleasure of presenting a superb jazz singer Cate Cody. Cate will appear with her fine trio comprising of Mike Graver (piano) John Day (bass) and Nick Ward (drums) and you can see them on You-Tube from Cate Cody's website. Tell all your friends and bring a party to hear this amazing jazz singer who was invited to sing at last years BAFTA awards ceremony. Tickets will be on sale at Courtyard Books and George Lewis Footwear in September.
